Poori

Pooris are the fried flatbreads made in India mostly on the Sunday mornings. Pooris can be the favourite dish for most of the children.

Ingredients :

 

  • Atta ( Wheat flour) - 2 cup
  • Maida (Plain flour) - 2 cup
  • Coarse Semolina - 2 tblsp (optional)
  • Sugar - 1 tsp (optional)
  • Oil - 2 tblsp
  • Oil - for frying
  • Water - as per requirement
  • Salt - to taste


Method :
  1. Combine atta, maida, semolina, 2 tblsp of oil and sugar, salt in a bowl; Knead them well to coat the flour with oil for about a minute; Knead them well now with little water into a soft rollable dough consistency.
  2. If there is enough time, leave it aside for about 15 minutes for the dough to raise.
  3. Make small balls of about 3-4cm.
  4. Heat a pan of oil for frying.
  5. Cover each ball in oil and roll it into a flat sheet.
  6. Fry the rolled sheet in oil. Turn it over to make a raised poori.


Notes : Pooris can be eaten along with Potato Masala, Channa masala or Dhal.
