-
1 tsp Salt

2.5 Cups Water
Method :

Heat oil well, season with mustard, urid dal and curry leaves. Add nuts broken into small pieces. Fry until golden brown.
-
Add finely cut green chillies, ginger, onion and carrot; stir for about 3 – 4 minutes.

Add water with salt and boil.
-
Add semolina, stirring all the time with a wooden spoon. Mix well.

Lower heat. Cover the vessel with a tight fitting lid. Allow semolina to get cooked and become thick consistency.
-
Uppuma is ready to be eaten.
Note
: Broken wheat (Dalia) may be substituted for semolina.

Hi,
When you say mustard here, do you mean mustard seeds?
Yes. Mustard seeds
This came out really well, though I had to use about 2.5 cups water as the semolina just soaked up the 2 cups instantly. How long would you normally leave it with the lid on as mine cooked pretty quickly?
