Prawn masala

Delicious side dish made of prawns, Green pepper and Indian spices is suitable for rice or any Indian bread. King prawns is a good choice for this. |

Ingredients: |

King Prawn - 500g
-
Green pepper (Capsicum) - 1/2 of medium (optional)

Onion - 2 medium
-
Tomato - 3
-
Ginger-garlic paste - 2 tsp heaped

Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
-
Chilli powder - 1 for medium spicy or 2 tsp for extra spicy

Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
-
Green Chilli - 2 (optional)
-
Tinned coconut milk -1 tblsp or 50ml thick coconut milk (optional)

Tomato puree - 1 tsp (optional)
-
Coriander leaves chopped - to garnish

Oil - 3 tblsp

Salt - to taste

Water - as required

Method: |

Remove the shell and vein from the prawns; Rinse them thoroughly.

Cut green pepper into 1 inch squares. Chop onion, tomatoes, chilli and coriander leaves.

Heat oil in a pan on a medium heat.

Add onion; saute them on a medium heat until they become translucent.

Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for a minute.

Add tomatoes, chilli, turmeric powder, chilli powder, green pepper, salt, tomato puree and coconut milk; Stir for about 2-3 minutes.

Add about 1/3 cup of water and let it cook until the onion is cooked well and soft.

Add prawns, stir and cook for about 2-3 minutes.

Garnish with coriander leaves.
