Paruppu Chutney

It is a good combination for many curries, Indian porridge and rice. |

Ingredients: |

Mung dal - 4 tblsp
-
Dried red chillies - 3
-
Grated coconut - 1 tblsp
-
Onion - 1/2 of small
-
Salt - to taste
-
Water - as required
-
Crushed Chillies - 1/2 tsp (optional)

Method: |

Chop the onion and grate the coconut.

Heat a pan.

Add mung dal and dried red chillies and fry for about 4-5 minutes on a medium heat.

Remove them from heat and soak the dal alone in water for about 10 minutes.

Grind the dal, chilli into a smooth chutney with grated coconut, onion and about 2-3 tblsp of water.

Garnish with crushed chillies.
Pls note: Use Small red onion instead of large onion for the added taste.

Notes: |
For a added flavour, you can smoke the red chilli directly on fire for a minute.
